5 Signs Your Website Is Losing You Customers

15 June 2026 · 5 min read

Most underperforming websites don't look broken. They load, the design is fine, nothing throws an error. The problems are usually smaller and quieter than that, which is exactly why they go unnoticed while they cost you enquiries every week.

1. It's slow on mobile, not just desktop

Most of your visitors are checking your site on their phone, often on a patchy connection. If it feels instant on your office wifi but drags on 4G, you're testing the wrong version.

2. There's no obvious next step

If a visitor has to hunt for how to actually contact you, most won't. A clear, repeated call to action isn't pushy: it's just removing friction between 'interested' and 'enquired'.

3. It reads like it's talking to everyone

Generic copy that could belong to any business in your industry doesn't give anyone a reason to pick you specifically. The businesses that convert well are usually the ones being precise about who they help and how.

4. There's no proof, just claims

'We're the best in the industry' convinces no one. A real result, a real client, a real before-and-after does more work than any amount of adjective.

5. It hasn't been touched since launch

Outdated hours, an old phone number, a 'Coming Soon' page from two years ago. Small neglect signals are exactly the kind of thing that makes a visitor question whether the business itself is still paying attention.

None of these need a full rebuild to fix. Most start with an honest look at the site you already have.
